Influenza, more commonly known as the flu, affects more than 3 million people per year. Influenza is highly contagious and symptoms can be mild to severe. Symptoms of the flu can include: fever, muscle aches, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, headaches, fatigue and sometimes vomiting and diarrhea. Older people, young children, and people with certain health conditions are at high risk for serious flu complications. Influenza vaccines, or flu shots, are vaccines that protect against influenza. Coastal Clinical Research, Inc. is conducting an investigational influenza vaccine for children 6 months to 4 years of age.
